Join the lab!

Interested in microbiology, biofilms, and antimicrobial resistance?

The Overhage Lab is interested in how microbial stress responses, biofilms, and polymicrobial interactions influence antimicrobial resistance and treatment efficacy in complex environments. We are always looking for motivated undergraduate and graduate students interested in microbiology, genomics, host-relevant microbial systems, and translational research. Students in the lab work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment that combines molecular microbiology, biofilm biology, AMR research, immunology, clinical and host-relevant experimental systems.

If you are interested in joining the lab as an undergraduate or graduate student, please send a CV, a brief description of your research interests and experience, and a copy of your transcript to joerg.overhage (at) carleton.ca. We look forward to hearing from you!

Our Lab Environment

We strive to create a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive research environment where students can develop scientific independence, critical thinking skills, and interdisciplinary research experience. Students are encouraged to present their work at conferences, contribute to publications, and participate in collaborative research projects.
